FIAT presents an new and electric version of its known model Doblò

It’s official: here comes the new Doblò and E-Doblò, the fifth generation of the model presented by FIAT and FIAT PROFESSIONAL. According to the brand “the new Doblò is the ideal partner for families in the passenger version and the suitable vehicle for all the demands of professional workers in the van version”. This is because it integrates “ingenious and innovative solutions that make driving in the city less stressful and much safer”, they guarantee in a press release.

Speaking specifically of the new E-Doblò, this vehicle is the third electric model for FIAT, the brand having previously launched the New 500 and the E-Ulysse. It is also the third electric vehicle for FIAT PROFESSIONAL, joining its predecessors E-Ducato and E-Scudo. The brand thus shows its commitment to continue with the electrification processes it has been working on in recent years.

It should be pointed out that the launch of these six electric vehicles is part of a journey that FIAT is taking to achieve two of its main objectives: to go fully electric on every new model in Europe by 2024 and to offer an all-electric range from 2027.

Using the Italian ingenuity that all the FIAT products hold, “both Doblò and E-Doblò expand their respective ranges to suit everyone’s demands, both transportation professionals and dynamic families”. Some even argue that “the latest version of this successful C-VAN model is top level in terms of versatility, payload, and safety”.

When buying the Doblò Van there is, for example, the possibility to choose between an electric and thermal combustion engine. Together with the electric version, two diesel versions are available: 1.5 liters in 100 HP with manual transmission; 1.5 liters in 130 HP with both manual and 8-speed automatic transmission. Lastly, there is a 1.2 petrol engine in 110 HP.

The all-new Doblò and E-Doblò will be manufactured in the Stellantis plant in Spain (Vigo), benefiting from scale effects. The all-new Doblò will take advantage of the existing and successful K9 program that serves other Stellantis brands.

A vehicle with a high load capacity

When we introduce someone to the new Doblò, one of the points we must emphasize is the flexibility of this vehicle, which will be available in two lengths and three different configurations (VAN, Crew Cab, and Combi). In addition, this model “offers a wide range of engines which are capable of satisfying any needs”, explains Fiat.

The designers responsible for creating the Doblò, aware that it is a vehicle that is likely to be driven by workers for eight or more hours, invested above all in the issue of comfort. They aimed to ” boost a stress-free work experience with sound insulation and suspension designed to reduce bumps and vibrations”.

Fiat’s new model also features the “Magic Cargo” which allows for a 0.5m3 increase in Cargo Volume. This means that whoever buys the Doblò will be able to load long objects like pipes or ladders reaching up to 3.4m of load length in this vehicle.

But we don’t stop there in terms of storage space: raise the seat on the passenger side and you’ll find a compartment underneath for boxes or fragile objects. Finally, rotate the tray table to turn the Doblò cabin into a mobile office as needed.

Available in both long wheelbase and short wheelbase versions, the Doblò model “is ready for any contingency”, reads a statement. To back up this statement Fiat mentions that “the long-wheelbase version reaches a maximum volume of 4.4 m3 thanks to the Magic Cargo function”.

In addition, “the Crew Cab long wheelbase body allows a unique modularity between seat and cargo space”, thanks to the fact that it is connected “to a sliding bulkhead that enables to modulate cargo space or passenger seating as needed”.

In the full-electric version, the E-Doblò offers top-class payload – up to 800kg on both wheelbases, allowing to load up to two euro-pallets. The ICE version, meanwhile, can reach up to one ton of load capacity.

More than 280 km of autonomy at the wheel of the E-Doblò

The E-Doblò, the electric version of the new Fiat model, has some particularities that deserve to be highlighted. To begin with, it is equipped with a 100kW electric motor and a 50kWh battery that allows more than 280km of autonomy, in the WLTP cycle.

Alongside these components, there is also a system called Magic Plug that allows using the electric energy produced by the car for specific conversion needs like a cargo fridge or a workbench for power tools.

Fiat shares that “the introduction of the battery pack did not cause any structural changes: the E-Doblò is available in the same VAN dimensions, features, and configurations as those with thermal combustion engines”.

By using the zero-emissions version of the E-Doblò model the customers will also benefit from “one-of-a-kind flexibility and a best-in-class charging capability”. This last one is achieved through the “Quick Charge Mode” up to 100kW, which allows charging in direct current 80% of the battery in just 30 minutes.

Concerning driving modes “the driver can choose between the modes Normal, Eco and Power”. But what are the differences between them? “Each mode modifies the vehicle’s driving response, enhancing and optimizing the vehicle performance”.

Being more specific: “the Normal is recommended for driving in regular traffic, Eco improves its fuel economy and Power improves the peak power of the vehicle”.  In any case, the new engine in the new E-Doblò enables the car to reach a top speed of 130km/h and up to 260 Nm of maximum torque.

A visible bet on driver and passenger safety

There are 17 safety features and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) that make the New Doblò one of the best in its segment. The Italian brand promises to improve the driving experience, especially in terms of visibility and safety, thanks to its “Magic Mirror” system. In other words, thanks to a 5″ digital rearview mirror that provides three different views: a rearview mirror, a complete view of the blind spot area, and a rear parking camera.

Other active safety and security systems that assist the driver on every journey are available as standard on the passenger version. It’s the case of the automatic recognition of traffic signals and the Lane Keeping Assist, which warns the driver if the vehicle leaves the lane and gradually brings the car back to the correct position.

We can also talk about the Active Safety Brake that is activated to reduce the risk of collision. As well as the Driver Attention Alert, which monitors the driver’s level of attention and signals when it is the moment to take a break.

The Van version of the Doblò, on the other hand, is equipped with a Hill Descent Control System that allows perfect control of the vehicle in the event it is subjected to slopes of more than 3%. This model is also composed of the Grip Control System, which has as function to offer the best performance and the greatest traction in all conditions such as snow, mud, or sand.

To conclude the analysis of the safety elements that constitute the new Doblò let’s mention the head-up display that provides the drivers with the most important information without them getting distracted from the road.

The perfect car for the whole family

In the passenger version, the E-Doblò will be able to accommodate the whole family’s needs. Thanks to its spaciousness, versatility, and a towing capacity of 750 kg. FIAT goes even further and assures that it is a “functional and versatile vehicle made for those who would like to fully express their personality”.

With 4,4 meters in length, this car gives the pilots more agility to drive through the city’s streets. The interior configurations, on the other hand, guarantee maximum versatility and spaciousness to aid customers in their various everyday tasks. Especially with its three single seats in the second row that can be folded down to increase cargo capacity.

The new E-Doblò is also equipped with the Isofix system, a standardized child seat attachment system that comes standard on all three rear seats. The goal of the brand is “to guarantee the most in safety”.

Whoever buys this car will benefit from the Magic Top. A windowed roof that provides more room for the storage compartments as well by a transparent shelf and a rear roof case. The best of all is the fact that this feature is accessible both from inside and outside the vehicle.

If the customer request, the car can also be equipped with the Magic Window. An opening back window on a tailgate that FIAT describes as “a magical place for looking out onto the city”. The same happens with the optional Magic View feature that makes parking easy due to the 180º camera, which provides a full view of what’s directly behind the vehicle.

Radio 8” DAB will be also a standard content to enhance the multimedial experience. New E-Doblò debuts with a special edition including Magic Window roof bars and 16” alloy wheels and an exclusive Mediterraneo Blue color.
