Lancia has officially come back to life with the unveiling of its first model in almost a decade. This new Italian brand model marks a new era as it introduces Lancia to electric mobility with a 100% electric Ypsilon.
The model was presented this Wednesday from Italy via a live stream, which we followed and provide below.
The vehicle, inspired by the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE concept car, will have an initial limited edition produced in collaboration with the Italian company Cassina. There will be 1906 units symbolizing the year 1906 when Lancia was founded, and they will be available in the Italian market through the “1 of 1906” campaign.
The company has partnered with the premium Italian furniture manufacturer Cassina for this initial Ypsilon edition, contributing to certain design details, especially in the interior.
Featuring design elements reminiscent of historical Lancia models, such as the rounded taillights inspired by the Lancia Stratos rally car from the 1970s, this Ypsilon shares a similar profile with its “cousin,” the Peugeot e-208, from the same Stellantis automotive group.
In technical terms, the electric motor has 115 kW/156 hp and 260 Nm of torque. The consumption ranges from 14.3 to 14.6 kWh/100 km.
Lancia announced that this electric vehicle (EV) will offer a range of 403 km, using the same 51 kWh battery as the Peugeot e-208 and Opel Corsa Electric (with which it shares the STLA Small platform). This results in a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 8.2 seconds and a top speed of 150 km/h.
Being a B-segment vehicle, the interior features distinctive elements, such as velvet seats with prominent rectangular ribs (“cannelloni”), a small table on the lower part of the dashboard (front covered in hand-stitched leather, rear housing the smartphone’s induction charging compartment), a concept-like steering wheel, and a Sound Air Light Augmentation (“Sala”) infotainment system.

Inside, there are two 10.25″ screens (instrument cluster and digital radio). According to the brand, the Ypsilon represents “the ultimate expression of Italian design, comfort, and well-being on board a Lancia.”
The only known price for the 2024 Lancia Ypsilon is for the Cassina limited edition, which is well-equipped and will be sold in Italy for 39,500 euros.
“From the first half of 2024, Lancia will enter Europe with a network of over 70 new dealerships in an equal number of major cities, where the brand’s future customers are located. The first markets to be involved, in mid-2024, will be Belgium and the Netherlands, followed by France and Spain, and then Germany and Portugal in 2025,” explains the brand.
Medium-term plans involve Lancia reviving the HF acronym to identify sport versions of the Ypsilon and other models. In this regard, the new Lancia Ypsilon will be the first of three electric models from the brand. The others are Gamma (in 2026) and Delta (in 2028).
