Marita Moreno launches a new collection of sustainable cork backpacks

The new collection of cork backpacks by Marita Moreno reinforces the brand's mission to create sustainable, high-quality products. Each backpack is carefully handcrafted by skilled artisans using cork — one of the world's most eco-friendly materials, extracted from the bark of the cork oak tree without harming it.

Lightweight, durable, and functional, cork is a versatile material with a unique aesthetic appeal. This limited collection ensures that every piece is one-of-a-kind, perfect for those who seek to combine style with environmental responsibility.

“We aim to provide our customers not just with a product, but with a story. Each cork backpack is the result of a meticulous handmade process that values the environment and encourages conscious consumption,” highlights the brand.

Due to the artisanal nature of its production, stock is limited. This collection embodies the principles of slow fashion, focusing on creating lasting pieces with minimal environmental impact. By purchasing a Marita Moreno backpack, consumers become active participants in preserving nature and promoting a more sustainable economy.

Marita Moreno is a Portuguese brand founded by Marita Setas Ferro, a designer and sculptor who also taught Fashion Design at the Árvore Arts School in Porto. The brand was born with a clear purpose: to bring sustainability into fashion.

“From the beginning, with the creation of limited lines, the use of national raw materials, production in Portugal, and the integration of traditional handcrafted textiles into our products, we began to view our environmental responsibility as a company and the importance of producing sustainably,” explains the brand.

Marita Moreno prioritizes the use of natural raw materials, such as cork, wood, linen, organic cotton, Portuguese-origin wool, bioleather, pinatex, malai, and bananatex. Whenever possible, recycled materials are incorporated, including microfibres, rubbers, and soles, which can later re-enter the product life cycle.

The brand’s products are available online and in physical stores in various Portuguese locations, as well as in Canada, Spain, Italy, and Mozambique, among other countries.
